Chris
and Peter
Life is full of routine (which Peter appreciates) Mother
and Toddlers on a Tuesday, Jo Jingles music on Wednesday, swimming on Thursday, shopping
on Friday. Peter really enjoys going to play at Mother and Toddlers where we
meet up with quite a few people that we are getting to know. It will be good too that many
of the children will move on together to the same Pre-school/Nursery when they are 2½ or
3, so hopefully whole mornings without mummy wont be too daunting. He may be able to
start in the Summer term (of course with a new baby at home he may not be so keen to leave
me alone!) but definitely does have a place for the Autumn. Jo Jingles is a small music
class where they use percussion instruments and do action and dancing songs; Peter loves
it and so does mummy who has to go too. We recently moved up to the 2-3s class where
he has fitted in well. We go to an under 5s and parents swimming session which we both
enjoy the changing room can be a bit chaotic and Im starting to find it a bit
harder work but we shall keep going as long as I can cope. We usually stay at the Leisure
Centre for lunch afterwards with some friends who Peter is getting to know and even calls
by name!
Peter is really into his books and videos, which range from Percy
the Park Keeper (known as "storm"), through Kipper ("puppy") and Pooh
("pooh") to Wallace and Gromit ("dog"). Hes getting the hang of
the Duplo although only seems to build vertically at the moment, and true to tradition
loves his railway and cars. Hes communicating verbally reasonably well, although of
course it does sometimes take a while to realise what hes on about. Whats
non-traditional is that he insists on tidying his toys away and gets most upset if doors
are left open. His best friend is Thomas, who has unfortunately at least once been
referred to as "toot-toot" rather than by his name!
I am still on the editorial
committee for the local residents assoc. magazine. We have just finished the Christmas
issue which has today been delivered to our house. I do some layout and re-typing of
articles. Most things just need a bit of jollying up so that they look interesting to read
and not just a page of small print.
