Tim’s work

hard at it on a quad bike! All change again! I’m still working for BT, but decided in the middle of the year that I didn’t want to go into the new BT/AT&T joint venture (Concert) and do the same kind of thing that I have been doing for several years now, but rather fancied something a bit different. So I rang round a few contacts and persuaded one of the units to create a position for me – it’s nice to be wanted! I now work in a Product Marketing team with a job involving "portfolio" and "strategy" and other such concepts. It’s very different from the cut and thrust of Sales, but I’m getting used to it now and feel I’m beginning to be some use. And looking at the chaos as my old colleagues suffer with the transition into Concert, I’m very grateful to be out of it.

Wiliiams gp car as sponsored by NortelThe best bit of the job over the past year was a week in Montreal for a conference which sadly coincided with the Canadian Grand Prix. It was such hard work doing all that networking in such a lovely city with its excellent restaurants. The new job is more internally focused than the previous one, but I am getting round to see several current or would-be suppliers and I’m booked to visit Las Vegas for a conference next February. So whilst I’ll miss some of the jollies that come with being in Sales, you can see you don’t need to feel sorry for me yet.
