Family News - From around the Globe

The Nelsons

Chris & LoisDad Nelson & LoisMum and Dad are still living in Stoke-On-Trent fund-raising for UCB Radio. They’ve applied to just about every Trust they’ve been able to find which might conceivably want to give money, and even written to some twice. It’s now reaching the point where they are thinking that maybe their job in Stoke is nearly over, and thoughts are turning to where they might want to live in a way closer to what most people think of as retirement. But of course wherever it is has to be within striking distance of an airport that can get them to Switzerland and Germany easily.

Phil is in Stuttgart still and has got a part-time job working for a publishing house. Dave has now got a job in Leamington (still teaching PE), having not liked being a Head of Department as much as he thought he would, so he moved.

Luca and Anna are expecting their second baby next March and are still wondering what they did right to get such a well-behaved daughter in Lois, who is now 19 months. The three of them are coming over to the UK for Christmas and will be staying with us for a few days. Luca is sent on courses in London every now and again, and if he gives up his business class ticket he is allowed to bring over the whole family courtesy of SwissBank, so we’ve been able to see them a few times this year. Luca’s Dad Luigi has just retired and he and his wife Laura are also coming over to the UK just after Christams and will stay in Stoke with Mum and Dad.

Auntie Joan lives in Stroud but travels quite alot visiting her friends around the country.

Pepsi our cat celebrated her 18th birthday in June but her age doesn’t seem to bother her at all. She is fit and well and still very affectionate - especially when we give her a treat of cream, tuna or chicken. She particularly enjoys having her tummy tickled, by Chris in the mornings and Tim in the evenings - she does have her little habits!

The Pearts

Chris with Mum and DadMy Mum and Dad celebrated their Ruby wedding anniversary in September by hosting a lunchtime party at their home in King’s Lynn. I went a few days earlier than Tim to help with the preparations. Much serious reminiscing took place with old friends about school days, the war, the day the bomber flew over the jam factory, who married who and so on. I sang some songs after lunch which everyone seemed to enjoy. Much of the fun was captured on video and will no doubt be watched in the years to come.

My brother Mike, Julie, Sussanah and Nicholas are still in Nottingham with Mike still working in the start-up architect’s practice of which he is a director. Julie is working as an Occupational Therapist as well as being wife and mum and vet to the family guinea pigs! Sussanah (nearly 10) and Nicholas (8) are growing up fast and are both keen swimmers and football fans (Notts Forest of course).

And finally

One piece of sad news is that in May I had a miscarriage. I had to have an operation (DEPROC for those of you in the know) and a stay in overnight. However we have both recovered well and were particularly encouraged by the love and concern shown to us by our family and friends.

Anyway, that’s about all of our news. Thanks to those of you who have already sent us letters and or cards. We trust that you are well and enjoying your life.

May God bless you richly in 1996 and may you know more and more of His love and joy.
