Peter
and Andrew
Peter is now 12 and it seems
only yesterday……etc. He moved to
secondary school in September and has made a
really great start. Sadly for him most of his best friends went to other schools
but in typical Peter style he has quickly made lots of new friends and already
has ‘my best friend Alex’ . Our house now resounds to such delights as ‘that’s
well dodgy’, ‘innit’ and ‘I knew that’. Peter has moved from magic tricks to
wanting to be a Time Lord—he has become a Dr Who fanatic (but will usually want
someone to watch with him for the scary bits—oh, memories of hiding behind the
sofa in days gone-by!) One of the highlights from his final time at junior
school was performing with thousands of other Buckinghamshire school kids in a
massive Beatles-themed concert at the O2 (see youtube video below).
Peter’s progressed up to
Base—the group for teenagers in our Church. He now goes out one Friday evening a
month and we have to stay up until he comes home— but at least on the weekly
cell group night we can fetch him earlier and get our beauty sleep.
Andrew continues to be very
keen on a few things and really not at all interested in lots of things—a real
specialist in the making. He continues to amaze with his almost photographic
memory for spellings, ”I don’t have to learn them just read them once” and his
intuitive maths ability.
Andrew's best friend Thomas
is a constant companion at school and home—here one day, there the next. Andrew
really enjoys Monopoly and the home made version Nelsonopoly—Tim usually plays
with him and Peter sometimes joins in reluctantly. Chris usually opts for
battleships or dominoes: much less stressful! Andrew is also very taken with Uno
– a game for at least three players which can go on for quite a long time!
Peter and Andrew are looking
forward to their new sized bedroom—that’s if we can get them out of the other
bedroom with ensuite shower which they’ll use whilst theirs has the make-over.
