I’m still the Waiting List Secretary for St Mary’s Pre-school where Andrew should be starting soon. I will hand on this job to someone else next September. There are so many opportunities to help out both there and now too at Peter’s school that I could easily have all my time used up. I’m also still involved with the Valley News magazine which continues to find advertising funding to more than cover the cost. It will be good when I have a few more hours (when Andrew and Peter are both out) to do things that require a bit more brain power and concentration. I have promised myself that I will read a local newspaper when ‘I have the time’ as well as having a tidy garden and clean windows - well it is good to have a few goals in life......

As mentioned before, I was hoping this time last year that the long hours working would be reduced because of my new role as a Business Development Manager in BT BIS (www.bt.com/bis) specialising in voice/data convergence (specifically IP telephony). Unfortunately it didn’t turn out that way, and I’ve been working as hard as ever. I was ready to start looking for another role as my boss didn’t seem to be taking the situation seriously, but in the Summer we got a new Director who brought in a new boss for me, and he immediately authorised half a dozen or so people for my team. Interviews will have happened by the time you read this, so by the end of January things should be a bit different. Here’s hoping!   I did however manage to wangle two more foreign trips - Washington in February and San Jose in July, so I’m slowly making my way round the US. Both gave little time for relaxation though - the last one was 5 days Monday to Friday and all work (boo hiss).
