Peter has been at school since September. Were
thrilled that he absolutely loves it. Hes been doing five mornings a week for this
last term, but after Christmas itll be the five full days. He settled in really
quickly, which was helped by the fact that he knew at least half of his class already from
being with them at Pre-school. He seems to be quite popular and so is often invited round
to play at his pals houses. Weve been introduced to the homework thing - so
far Peter has to practice reading half a dozen new words a week. He has several really
good friends including another Peter, who he buddied up with so quickly that the teacher
assumed that they already knew each other. The inevitable influence of all these friends
is that he is into all the latest toys like Spiderman, and Power Rangers, and
Thunderbirds (still), and Action Man, and Captain Scarlet, and Buzz Lightyear, and... not
that he usually knows what most of them are really about. He still enjoys trains, but
Andrew is getting the most pleasure out of the Duplo track these days. Peter had 21
friends to his birthday party the other week, for which we did all the entertainment
ourselves (thankfully with the help of all four grandparents) - hence the age it took to
get all his presents opened.
Andrew
is starting to string his sentences together pretty well. He is developing a strength of
character which, whilst great in itself, is often quite maddening - he likes everything to
be done just so, and is VERY vocal and demonstrative (i.e. throws complete
wobblies) when it isnt. And not only that, but he is very independent
too, which means that he insists on struggling to do things that would be ten times
quicker for us to do for him. He is starting to learn that he cant always have
things his own way, but we did have a very difficult month or two when he just
couldnt accept this. Hes growing up fast, having now moved from the cot into
the bottom half of Peters bunk bed and is due to start at the Pre-school after
Christmas.
